A morning at Twig
The order stays the same every day, so children know what comes next. What happens inside each part is up to them.
- 9:00
Step 1: Arrival
A teacher greets each child at the door. Children hang up their coats, find the place they want to start and settle in.
- 9:20
Step 2: Free play
The longest part of the morning. Blocks, the kitchen, the art room, books and puzzles are all open, and children move between them as they like.
- 10:30
Step 3: Snack
Children wash their hands and sit at small tables for fruit, vegetables and crackers, and they pour their own water.
- 11:00
Step 4: Circle
A short gathering with a story, a song or a game. A child who would rather watch from the edge is welcome to.
- 11:20
Step 5: Outside
The fenced yard: sand, mud, the playhouse and the garden bed. Teachers play out there too.
- 12:15
Step 6: Stories and goodbye
A last story and a tidy-up before pickup at 12:30. Children on the full day eat lunch from home and stay until 3:00.
