How we play
Play-based means the day is built from what children choose
Teachers set out materials in the morning, watch closely and join in when they are invited. There are no worksheets, no screens and no long stretches of sitting still. A child who wants to build all morning can build all morning.

The teacher's part
What a teacher does while children play
Sets the room
Puts out materials at child height and changes them through the week, so there is always something new to find.
Plays alongside
Sits on the floor and plays next to a child, following their lead instead of steering the game.
Notices
Watches what each child returns to, and tells you about it at pickup in plain words.
Steps in
Helps when a game gets unfair or a child gets stuck, and keeps hands, voices and feet gentle.
